SAEF Guidelines and protocols for training and competitions

SAEF Guidelines and protocols for training and competitions

The SAEF welcomes the confirmation from the Department of Sport, Arts and Culture that Equestrian Sport may go back to training and the hosting of shows and events. The SAEF, our Discipline Associations, Provincial Federations, Clubs and Members wish to thank the Minister, Min Nathi Mthethwa, the Director General, Ms Sumayya Khan and their team for their commitment to assisting us with our submission. Equestrian sport acknowledges and recognises that the safety of human life is of paramount importance. It is with this in mind that the SAEF developed a robust system of protocols in line with Government Regulations and Guidelines. With the re-commencement of Equestrian activities, the main focus will be on social distancing and the wearing of masks, in order to protect the health and safety of all riders, officials, staff and other individuals . We request our members to familiarise themselves with content of the latest Government Gazette as well as our SAEF guidelines for training and shows. (See buttons below) The SAEF would like to say a big thank you to...

2020 SA Championships

2020 SA Championships

To all Dressage SA Members DSA has taken the decision to cancel the 2020 SA Champs on the advice of a member of the Ministers Advisory Committee, who we are fortunate enough to have guided us. The COVID-19 Pandemic is expected to peak in the period July – September with provinces at various stages of the high prevalence. The case rates are anticipated to rise dramatically, with all hospitals overwhelmed throughout the country. It is not possible for the lockdown levels to be lower than level 3, with a continued ban on group and sports events. DSA will maintain the social distancing intention to protect the population and the health system. It is possible if people break the lockdown and do not demonstrate restraint that the National Coronavirus Command Council will return to lockdown level five. The peak death rates, and related morbidity, is estimated to reach rates only seen in the USA and Brazil if we don’t all continue to demonstrate restraint and social distancing. We ask all...

Update on SAEF submission to DSAC

Update on SAEF submission to DSAC

Dear Members As you know, we submitted our Equestrian Sport Operational Plan to the Ministry and Department of Sports, Arts and Culture on 17 June 2020. The Secretary General contacted Ms Sumayya Khan, Director General of Sport, to ascertain when we could expect a response. Ms Khan indicated that her department was working overtime to get through all the submissions. She requested us to be patient and apologised for the delay. In the meantime, we would like all Showholding Bodies, Venues and Clubs to familiarise themselves with the content of our submission in order to prepare for once we reopen our sport. We thank you for your patience, co-operation and understanding. Take care of yourself! The SAEF Team SAEF...

Holding of any “events”

Holding of any “events”

To all Dressage SA Members Please note that Dressage SA cannot condone the holding of any “events”, whatever format they are purported to take, until we have received a clear directive from the Minister via the SAEF as to the protocols that will enable Equestrian Sport to recommence. A comprehensive application has been submitted by the SAEF on behalf of all Disciplines and it is hoped that a positive response will be forthcoming. At this stage there has been no feedback but we are assured that consideration is being given as Equestrian falls into the non-contact sport category. Dressage SA has submitted Covid protocols to be followed once the holding of events is once again sanctioned. In the meantime it is necessary to discourage any “event” format that the National Covid Council dealing with sport and other Covid restrictions and permissions might construe as a contravention of the Covid laws as they currently stand. We certainly would not like there to be repercussions such as a suspension of...
