2020 SA Championships

To all Dressage SA Members

DSA has taken the decision to cancel the 2020 SA Champs on the advice of a member of the Ministers Advisory Committee, who we are fortunate enough to have guided us. The COVID-19 Pandemic is expected to peak in the period July – September with provinces at various stages of the high prevalence. The case rates are anticipated to rise dramatically, with all hospitals overwhelmed throughout the country. It is not possible for the lockdown levels to be lower than level 3, with a continued ban on group and sports events. DSA will maintain the social distancing intention to protect the population and the health system. It is possible if people break the lockdown and do not demonstrate restraint that the National Coronavirus Command Council will return to lockdown level five. The peak death rates, and related morbidity, is estimated to reach rates only seen in the USA and Brazil if we don’t all continue to demonstrate restraint and social distancing. We ask all our riders to make their contribution to saving lives and the health system.

Stay Safe
