The Total Package – Discipline and Federation working together for you

It is important for every athlete and every official to understand how a discipline association, such as Dressage SA (DSA), and a Sports Federation, such as the South African Equestrian Federation (SAEF) fit together and support each other in order to deliver the foundation upon which our sport is built. The SAEF is the overreaching Equestrian Sports Federation which is in pace to fulfil very specific functions on behalf of all equestrian disciplines in South Africa. These Disciplines as are follows: OLYMPIC DISCIPLINES FEI DISCIPLINES NATIONAL DISCIPLINES Dressage Carriage Driving Equitation Eventing Endurance Mounted Archery Showjumping Reining & Performance Riding Mounted Games Para Dressage Vaulting Polo Polocrosse Showing Saddle Seat Tentpegging Western Mounted Games   In order to keep this communication short and readable, we have only addressed the highest level issues. Now although it is true that each discipline needs to administrate its own affairs related to issues such as managing rules, training and grading officials, managing calendars and regulating the sport in general, (see our email on...

2019 Membership Subs & Early Bird Discount

2019 Membership Subs & Early Bird Discount

Over the past years we saw it as our key objective to put DSA onto a solid financial footing. The increase in membership fees for 2018 had to be above inflation to allow us to get the organisation on track. We are today on solid ground and able to fund a large variety of development activities that will benefit our members directly. We are therefore in the fortunate position that our increase of the 2019 subscription fees has been kept below inflation. In addition, we want to offer our members a substantial early settlement discount.  If you pay your fee before 31 December 2018, you are only liable for an amount close to the 2018 membership. DSA has also put processes and policies in place that will ensure a very tight expense budget for the running of the organisation. Our aim is to ensure that our deliverables to members remain a primary focus. Income will be used to develop the sport. National as well as Provincial plans are being...

What do you get from the DSA and how is it funded

What do you get from the DSA and how is it funded At this time of the year, where membership renewals are due, we thought it prudent to give you more information on Dressage South Africa (DSA) to allow you an educated understanding of the organisation and the funding. Equestrian sport in South Africa has over the past couple of years been restructured and now comprises a matrix organisation with a parent body – South African Equestrian Federation (SAEF) – including Provinces and Disciplines. Dressage South Africa – DSA – is the dressage specific discipline organisation that is tasked with the following objectives: • Capacity building in athletes, officials, coaches, facilities and systems. • Maintenance of a detailed database of athletes (human and equine), officials, clubs, show holding bodies. • Managing training and development of athletes, coaches, officials, office staff, volunteers, show holding bodies and clubs. • Diligent care, compliance and responsibility of all the finances from members, grants and donors. • Managing the Rules and Regulations of the...

First Aid Level 1 Certification

First Aid Level 1 Certification

We are underway with facilitating the First Aid Level One Courses for registered Coaches nationally and have successfully completed three courses in October (two in Gauteng and one in Cape Town) which were a great success and we received fantastic feedback from the coaches who attended. SAEF has donated a substantial amount of money enabling us to hugely subsidize these courses. The subsidy is only available until the 17th of November2018. Thereafter, you will have to pay a service provider R800 – R1200 for the same course that all registered DSA Coaches can currently get for R75. This is really a phenomenal offer and will probably never be repeated again. The next courses are due to take place as follows: Nelspruit 1 to 2 November 2018 Ulwazi – Midlands 3 to 4 November 2018 Shongweni 5 to 7 November 2018 If you are interested and the locations indicated, or dates are not suitable for you then please contact us urgently as we are prepared to jump through hoops in...
