SAEF Newsletter – 1 July 2020 – NO SHOWS or EVENTS ALLOWED

IMPORTANT NOTICE

The SAEF has been made aware of certain Showholding Bodies/ Venues/Clubs who are holding or advertising shows and/or events during Level 3 of lockdown.

THIS IS NOT ALLOWED

We are urging these entities to refrain from promoting shows or events at this stage as it is not allowed and could effect the outcome of our submission to Government to open equestrian sport for training and competition.

At the moment, the only activity our riders may engage in, is to exercise their horses. Should a venue wish to set up a track for exercising horses, this will be allowed. The venue must adhere to stringent Covid-19 regulations and guidelines.

The venue must:
1. Have a compliance officer in place and follow all Covid-19 regulations
2. Have all the necessary signage to make riders aware of the Covid-19 health regulations
3. Must have a register at the entrance of the venue to check temperatures, masks etc
4. Have a timetable with slots allowed for exercise
5. Not more than 4 riders are allowed to exercise at the same time
6. There must be no element of the structure of a competition

Should any SAEF member or rider feel that a venue is overstepping the regulations and guidelines for Level 3, please do not hesitate to contact us on 011 468 3236/7 or email admin@saef.org.za. All information will be treated as confidential.

We are hoping for a positive outcome from the Department of Sports, Arts and Culture in the near future. Let’s be patient and await their decision.

Take care of yourself!
