Update for horse riders/owners who are the sole carers for their horse/s

Update for horse riders/owners who are the sole carers for their horse/s

After contacting various parties, this is the best information we can provide when you attempt to feed your horse/s.

1. Ensure that you inform the officer that ‘Animal Care’ as stipulated in Regulation 11A, Section B Services, point 12 refers to this. (see regulation below)
2. Have a copy of this document with you at all times
3. Have your identity document as well as your driver’s license in your car
4. Keep your horse/s’ passports in the car with you
5. Travel on your own

Please note that we have been informed that not all officers at roadblocks will have the same attitude towards allowing individuals to see to their animals. Also note that SAEF cannot be held responsible if you are not allowed to feed your horse/s. We have exhausted all routes to acquire the correct information, but due to the state of emergency and the short time spans, not all individuals will grasp what ‘animal care’ entails.
